Mike,

It's a long time since I heard "ginger bottles" - fair takes me back. My 
niece from USA went into a shop here and asked for a bottle of lemonade. 
"What kind of lemonade do you want?" she was asked.  "What kinds have you 
got?" she asked in return, not really understanding.  "We've got orangeade, 
cream soda, limeade, lemonade, cola ... "  Had she asked for a bottle of 
ginger, she'd have got the same response.

One small point.  It's Glesca or Glesga, never Glasgae.
