Colin,

War Plan Red was the name of the scheme (the USA was code red, GB was blue) - only incidentally is it the name of the programme.  I believe Hitler knew of the plan, but they played no part it, despite the likes of Lindbergh, who was a Nazi sympathiser. The business may be incredible, but it was real.
