Mike,

I don't rate Dyson as anything more than a gimmick producer. His "cyclone"
principle, or one like it, was used in the mills here to take dust from the
atmosphere within. The units were a feature of the roofs. My job after
leaving the comfort of a year as a gateboy in Lithgows East Yard, and before
starting my time in Kincaids, was as a sort of boy labourer in the sheet
metal works that made the units. Mainly I tried hard not to get my fingers
cut off in the guillotine. In the article I read about "must-have" object,
and "cooly curved design". That's about it, and don't get me started in the
"22 engineers and designers" who took 3 years to develop a new kind of
heater that does pretty much what the old kind does, only dearer and cooly
curved.

Hugh.
