I agree it stinks. 

British politicians have learned from their American counterparts that influence peddling and the ‘wink-wink’ favour is extremely profitable.
when you have a ‘liaison’ [read ‘lackey] as Liam has – then it is even more lucrative, they set up the meetings, etc. the politician meets for a few minutes, shakes hands, the deed is done.

ordinary decent values – knowing what is right and what is wrong, knowing what is ethical – appears to be ignored and forgotten now.

it is said one can never be thin enough or rich enough; we can add – greedy enough!
