Herewith the reply to the email I sent objecting to the proposed bankers party around the MN Memorial. I draw your attention to the bit in blue. Words fail me. The reply came from The Moving Venue Caterers, Marquee Structure, Trinity Square Gardens. I viewed it as a possible threat, or Spam - it was only when I'd checked it via Properties that I realised what it was.

Hugh.

Thank you for your email. We acknowledge the issues you have raised and fully appreciate significance of the national war memorial.

As we have already received numerous valid representations from interested parties who have raised similar concerns as you have, the matter will be dealt with by way of a public hearing by the Tower Hamlets Licensing Sub-Committee. - a body representing persons living in the vicinity of the premises (i.e. residents association etc)

- a person involved in business in the vicinity of the premises

I'm sure there are plenty of places in which to hold Christmas parties, so why the insistence on desecrating the memory of Merchant Navy dead by holding one amid their graves? This disgracefully unfeeling application should be refused - if it's already accepted, those responsible should be ashamed of themselves.
