Poor dears. I've had a look at this Manchester place on my map - dear God, it's further north than Liverpool ! Couldn't the BBC have done it in stages ? Say, 6 months in Luton, 6 in Northampton, then 6 in each of Leicester and Nottingham, and finally 6 in Stoke-on-Trent to allow all them to comtemplate being only 39 miles from Manchester, before the big push.
