Also the proposed pension of £140 is designed to compensate for the means tested Pension Credit Guarantee system which guarantees a single pensioner £132.60 per week and a married pensioner couple £202.40 per week.  In addition, it appears the proposed new system will not change what existing pensioners already get.
 
It is suggested the new system will apply to new pensioners from 2014 or 2015, if they can ever get it past the consultation phase.  I sense a lot of comment and opposition.
