eh? – does this mean a couple’s pension goes up from L156.15 to L280 and a single person goes up from L97.65 to L140?
this is an increase of 79% for couples and 43% – unheard of........................!!!!! 
all paid out of public sector final salary pensions?

"Lord Hutton's commission did not address the level of the basic state pension, currently £97.65 for a single person and, typically, £156.15 for a couple. This figure could soon be increased to a flat rate of £140 for everyone with full National Insurance Contributions (NICs) records, according to experts, in what would amount to the biggest uprating of the state pension for decades. Such a move would please unions - making them less likely to protest over removing final-salary schemes."
