Unless you are the recipient you are not allowed to wear it on your left breast. If wear it you must then wearing it on your right breast is acceptable if the medal was that awarded to a deceased relative.

In the case of the PJM the civil servants have told us that if we wear it then we are showing great disrespect to HM The Queen.

You are entitled only to wear medals that have been awarded to you.

You may wear them, with pride on your right breast, to celebrate your father's service to King and Country [or Queen and Country].

In Australia it is an illegal act to wear medals that you are not entitled to wear.
