The Pingat Jasa Malaysia [The Malaysian Service Medal]

As some of you would be aware, a group of British Veterans seeking to have a decision of the Honours and Decorations Committee's rescinded. They say that HM The Queen has said that British Veterans can accept but not wear the PJM.

Before the election we were promised a review of Medal Policy by the present Government . They promised an open discussion would be held, where the views of Veterans could be given at this "Open Review'.

But the Ministry of Defence has now quietly 'completed a 'Secret Review' where no evidence was able to be given by any Veterans Organisation. They didn't tell us that the 'Open review' had commenced!

The 'completed review' has been in the hands of the PM and DPM since 16th February, that is of course, nearly 4 months ago .

Who do MPs think rules this country? The Civil Servants or the elected members of Parliament of this country?

What us the problem with the PJM?

The Civil Servants made a mistake that they will not admit to. They forgot an edict from the HM The Queen that is still extent. Namely the following notice in the London Gazette. And, as you are well aware, UK Civil Servants do not make mistakes.

The London Gazette dated 3rd May 1968 - 5057
Foreign Office
Commonwealth Office

Orders, Decorations and Medals conferred by Members of the Commonwealth of which the Queen is not head of State, and by Foreign Countries.

The Queen has been graciously pleased to approve that Orders, Decorations and Medals conferred with her Majesty's permission upon United Kingdom Citizens not being servants of the Crown by the Heads of Governments of Commonwealth countries as defined above, or of foreign States, may in all cases be worn by the recipients without restriction.

The PJM was offered to veterans of Britain, Australia and New Zealand who served in the conflict against Indonesia.

HM The Queen approved the medal to be accepted and worn in Australia and in New Zealand. Even a past Governor General of Australia wears his with pride.

Michael Jeffries Past GG of Australia - PJM second from right, bottom row.

Malaysia is a Muslim country which is friendly to Britain. How do you think the people of Malaysia feel when a medal that they offered and was accepted by the UK Government cannot be worn. Insulted? You are quite right, they do feel insulted.

The Civil servants have not been able to produce a copy of the approval accepting the PJM that says that HM the Queen does not give her approval for us to wear the PJM.

We say that the Civil Servants aren't hiding anything because you can't hide something that doesn't exist.

Please copy and paste this article - from the start of the second paragraph and send it to your MP as soon as possible

Don't let the Civil Servant win another one that they shouldn't.

Thanks.
