I have long been turned off this Nick Bryant. He lives in some other world than the Australia that I know.

He writes somewhat akin to sufferer of verbal diarrhoea - but using the written word.

A sample...

"It starts the moment that I rummage through the spare room in search of our gas heater, and my wife hauls on her Ugg boots. For others, I hear, is the faint whiff of mothballs on public transport from clothes put away in storage throughout the summer."

What a load of bovine excreta. I have never smelt or seen any mothballs in the 42 years that I have lived in the Antipodes.

Another bit of crap ...

"Perhaps it is all those tourism advertisements again, but the idea appears to have taken hold that the Great Southern Land is bathed continuously in glorious sunshine, and that this is a country of seasonal homogeneity.

In some parts of the country that may be true. But in the south-eastern quadrant, which harbours the majority of the Australian population, it gets surprisingly chilly in the winter."

NO SURELY NOT? Has this man travelled around this country. does he really know how large it is. Is he aware of time zones and the Far North?

Utter bullshit.
