Much of the world [including UK] has now espoused the American economic model of unrestrained and unbridled greed. 
in the USA this masquerades as free market capitalism and is the bedrock of the republican party – anything else must be socialism – a word few dare to utter in the USA.
you remember the republican party? ‘twas on their watch that the near collapse of the world’s economy occurred – George bush will be forever remembered for his total incompetence, but I digress.
The Southern Cross predator Blackstone [and the like] are in business to make money at any cost, they have no concern nor do they give a toss or tarry-didle for folks who suffer by their dealings.
Such predators [and trump is in this lot] have enough money to ‘persuade’ elected official of every ilk to do their bidding. enough elected officials can be corrupted [ and who said – everybody has a price?] that the greed model has become ever more avaricious. 
So the southern cross/blackstone/rsb/qatari goings-on should not surprise anyone. the rich are getting richer – as planned.
what can or will the ‘un-rich’ do about it?
