Colin,
I've managed OK until now without even knowing what a netbook is. Now I know it's a wee laptop, and they are becoming extinct. So will I now rush to buy a tablet ? Will I %&£$ ! The thing is, I dont need one - I am immune to any and all statements, adverts, etc, that try to convince me I should have one. My computer does not come with me to the toilet, or to anywhere else. It stays right here with the rest of the furniture : TV, bed, settee, table, etc, and, when I unplug it, it's dead. I recently acquired a somewhat ancient (by modern standards) mobile phone - my daughter gave me her old one. I put £10 in it 2 months ago, and there's still £2 left. Though I find it kind of handy at times for text messages (I've yet to make a call on it), it came to me this afternoon that people grow to feel they need these things only because other people have them, ie, each has to be in touch with the rest. It's self perpetuating - it's a bloody addiction. I can still remember when it was possible to survive and lead a happy life without any of these portable gadgets. That's my story anyway. Incidentally, in Stockholm I didn't see many people with one stuck to their ear.
Hugh.
