Mike,

Why is it that obituaries of writers/musicians can inspire one to go out and 
buy a book/CD/record by them, having read/heard nothing by them before? 
Interesting that the Grauniad felt the need to qualify "Paisley" by "near 
Glasgow".  Paisley Buddies will not be chuffed.  However, he says, not in 
the same league as the reference to Glasgow I saw some months back in a 
paper - could have been American.  This had "Glasgow, some 400 miles north 
of London". The article was on Glasgow, and not, as one might think, 
geography.  Just setting it in a handy context.  Though, for the US, they 
should have gone a wee bit further and qualified "London" with "where Big 
Ben and red buses are to be seen in films".
