            6 killed, 8 wounded in violent weekend in New Orleans

            New Orleans endured another violent weekend, with six people killed and another eight wounded by gunfire between Friday and Sunday, including one homicide in the shadow of the New Orleans Police Department's headquarters.

            The latest deaths bring the city's homicide tally to at least 34 for the year. There were 23 homicides as of this point last year.
