they sure are, mike – so bloody stupid they don’t mind becoming poorer, in fact they vote to do that very thing!
the astonishing thing to me about US politics [I should say – one of the many things], is that the people who vote republican are the very middle class who lose out every time under a republican president.
they make no progress financially or otherwise – yet vote to get poorer!
for example - who in their right mind would vote to continue to pay $800 to $1200 per month for family health insurance – and get less coverage year by year?
that is because they are told a national health system, where everybody pays 1/10th of the above, is SOCIALISM ---------- oow, scary!
the republicans have 2 goals - smaller government and make the rich richer.......
how this benefits average Joe republican will forever be a mystery to me.
frankly, I hope when election time comes round again [2012] we get a republican president. The republicans and their tea-party cousins have all the answers, so milk and honey will be soon flowing again.............................

I particularly like the sixth paragraph from the end re the Tax Breaks for the wealthy.  Are the US population that thick ?
