In Kincaid's DO, 1953-1956, before I went to sea, among the many subjects we worried about when not gainfully employed, (and often when gainfully employed, as a diversion), was fuel cell technology. Our approach (the eldest of us was early 20s) was to use it to drive an electric motor.  Eventually we got fed up and designed a 6" reflector telescope.  Until recently, I still had the glass blanks for the mirror, unground.
