1905 is well worth a read to see what difficulties that the HM had to deal with. In that year the plague in India was endemic. Start reading at the 2nd of April. There were no telephones in those days. To received a telegram you had to be living close by a telegraph station. People in India who die, are buried the same day. Place yourself in the HM's shoes.
