Frank,

In step 1, two identical right angle triangles, with sides 8 and 3, are fitted into a box with sides 5 and 13, so that (apparently), the hypotenuses of the two triangles have slid along the diagonal of the box and coincide with that hypotenuse. However, the ratios of the sides of the two triangles are each equal to 8/3 = 2.6.  And the ratio of the sides of the 13x5 box is 13/5 = 2.667.  So there is a discrepancy of 0.067 and the triangles do not fit the box.  The reasoning for the other two shapes is similar, and I leave it for you to work out.
