I came across this the other day. Where I found it it was a joke circulating in July 1954. Anyway, I like it and hope you do too.
 
A women looks at a man in uniform with some curiosity.
'Young man. I can see you're in the army but I don't recognise the regiment.' 
'I'm a Gurkha, madam.'
'But you're a white man.'
'Yes, that's because I'm an officer. We do have black privates, though.'
