Hugh,

I watched the docu last night on QUEST on the "Oasis of the Seas".  Throughout, watching this monster with 5000 passengers aboard, I couldn't help thinking about adverse weather and it's effect.  The film showed her on flat calm seas.  Maybe in the bad weather season they put her in drydock !  The Old Man seemed to think that the ship's 47M beam was the answer !

Not a loose piano in sight. The only "damage" to my cabin was that my carpet slid across the floor in a heap, and a plank came loose in the ER.  But the damage to my career was considerable - I drew a sketch of the horizon viewed from one of my  windows (facing forward) in a letter to my fiancee, and she suggested a change of job.  I recall playing darts on Chakdara's boat deck with Sandy Souter when we were rolling mightily.  Our main interest lay in trying to work out how the darts knew to go straight to the board. We took some meals sitting on the deck with our backs to the messroom outbd bulkhead, gimballing the soup plate to keep it level.
