Sorry to disappoint you Hugh but my musical talents are rather limited. I was taught Piano for 2 years when I was 11 and sang in two Church choirs but that's that. I'll keep my eye open for the Big Band Show in case it comes to Merseyside.

Mike,

We were at the Darius Campbell (Danesh, as was) Big Band Show in the King's Theatre, Glasgow last night, and who should be sitting in the sax section but Mike Feltham. You don't look a day over 30-something, Mike. I won't have to tell you it's a great show, but others should note. Quite the best swing band I've ever heard in the flesh, session musicians all. At second alto sax (and arranger) I noted Duncan Lamont Junior. His father, like Ray McVey who runs the "Glenn Miller Band", came from Greenock. Duncan Senior played trumpet to a high standard, but moved to tenor sax after embouchure problems. During the early 50s the Firth of Clyde Rhythm Club flourished on Sunday nights in a decrepit 3-storey building (still there, still decrepit). With a couple of friends, I was a non-playing member. Any musician in town or within travelling distance would turn up and jam - all styles of jazz. The above two were there at times. Duncan Senior became Duncan Lamont (accent on the "mont") when he ran a Latin American band on BBC radio for a time.

Hugh.
