I recall another expression , a Scots expression of a Geordie was a Scot with his heid kicked in , and the Geordie said  a Scot was a Geordie with his heid kicked in .

No offence any one as a Geordie myself .

  A quiz show on BBC2 TV this evening asked the question, "What, according to the Scots, are Sassenachs?"  Daft question, for a start, but they went on with it, and Lo, the answer was Englishmen.  It's a common misconception, and many Scots share it.  According to the Gael, anyone below the Highland line is a Sassenach, a Southerner.  To the Geordie, those south of the Warford Gap are Sassenachs, or, as the audience at a northern working man's club put it to a struggling comedian from those parts, Southern Nancy Boy, gerroff.  It's being together that keeps us British.
