the film makers lack of knowledge/accuracy should not surprise us, nor the weirdoes' in the business......................
a horsey friend of mine was concerned about what he perceived as inaccuracy in some period saddlery on a horse in a film - and wrote to the film maker about it..
the response was that it was a film loosely based on a 19th century novel and not a film about the details of 19th century horse tackle..............................!
so it would seem to be more about impressions than accuracy.
I look forward to hearing of the steel erector/aeronautics person/designer team's next folks pass
