Frank,

Long winded lectures about the home of the brave and the free from politically elected judges are something the world should not have to suffer.  He sentenced the accused (I haven't checked Snopes) to a very long time in jail for his sins - why inflict a lecture like that on him in addition?  That should qualify as cruel and unusual punishment.
