He said that he had done it, not for personal profit, but to keep his domestic life secret.  He could have kept it secret by not claiming anything from the taxpayer.  He is a millionaire so he didn’t need the money.  No one would have complained if he didn’t claim any MPs allowances.

Greed got in the way.  He should have put his hand up some time in the past few years when everyone else was getting caught.
