It's all betting, and betting on how much profit they can make before we all wake up in a semi-agrarian society, ie, no oil, no gas, no anything that needs these to manufacture, and no preparation made for the eventuality.  And what about this quote ?

"But it's mind-blowing as well, I mean, 12,000 feet of water is where the Titanic sits. That's how deep that water is. Let me stress: 12,000 feet is really deep water."

This gent is advising people?  I recall the Goon Show, where they had a pit full of deep water, though they didn't specify the depth.
