Colin,

The BBC have finally got into the technical stuff re the blowout.  This evening a gent was telling us that an object called the blowout preventer had malfunctioned - its battery had run out.  I knew the battery would somehow appear out of context.

On a different note -  the couple next door to us have two grandsons, and the younger (about 4) is wont to stand on something high and chat to us over the fence.  The other day he was down in the dumps, not inclined to argue even when I insisted he actually had long legs and wasn't standing on something high.  He had been looking forward to his first eye test, and he had failed it.  The lady next door said, "They wouldn't give him glasses - his eyesight is perfect.  He's disappointed."
