[BITList] blueprint

has anyone heard of a blueprinted engine?
it is a common expression in the land of the free, home of the brave - and refers to an automotive engine which has been carefully assembled; particularly high performance engines.
I had never heard it before coming here.
is it now in common used elsewhere?
has anyone else heard of it?
