[BITList] tapered?

I too seem to remember through the mist of time that they were tapered threads.
however, checking google I see they are not now tapered here!
I doubt if people here concerned with drill pipe looked to the chimney sweeps tool box for inspiration and decided on tapered threads!

  don't know if the tapered tread was ever patented, did they not have it on the old chimney sweep brushes?
