OMG - clan line severe culture shock, don't like the sound of that at all. 
[I'm anti culture shock - new orleans is enough for me!].
diesel generators -- oh no...............[hate them, noisy, hot smelly

beers ,etc not flowing like water and no sandwiches, clearly very 
anti-social, what was wrong with everybody? and an ab chief steward to boot.
no sense in hanging around clan line.

the chief was obviously tired of living or drunk when he decided to hammer 
test m.e. bolts AT SEA WITH THE TURNING GEAR NOT ENGAGED.  it's not as if 
it's going to take more than a few minutes!
in all my vast experience I have never heard of such a bloody stupid thing 
to do. wonder what other party tricks he had!

I heard of gay pubs and the like in antwerp, but we never seemed to be there 
long enough or often enough for me to even go ashore. I have been to antwerp 
for other work but can't remember a thing about it.
