I am not so sure that it is toleration to the deranged idiots, as knowing what a cogent response is to out right lies and illogical nonsense they come up with, such as death panels for the aged, re-education camps, brain washing kids, socialism, not to mention more taxes, etc. 
from all sides there is so much spinning, propaganda, half truths and blatant lying that herr goebels would be envious.
simply saying they are lies, etc. is not enough, because the luddites don't want to know. (screw it, let's smash the weaving machines anyway).
it's very easy to get the white mob stirred up here, just mention their right to bear arms, rights under the constitution, freedom, big government, socialism and the united nations and the loonies come out of the woodwork screaming defiance.
simply put, this rabble don't want a black as president nor any of his vision of the future upon which he was elected. that he was elected by the majority in a legal and constitutional way is irrelevant to them.
I agree entirely that the people who wanted change and who elected him seem to be tamely standing by with no response to the loonies.
the right wing/republican propaganda machine is more than well funded and so easily affords the best and brightest of the professional spin doctors and handlers. 
the right wing was very quick to see their old, white dominated world was about to be shaken up and so reacted violently. (hey, only the rich should have healthcare - right!)
in the meantime, the democrats and obama camp were asleep at the wheel. they thought because they were elected with a big majority and controlled both the congress and senate nothing further was needed and they could sit back and watch the ship of government sail happily into the sunset.
it was a major mistake of obama [and will probably turn out to be the biggest mistake of his life] in not taking the lead in the reform of health care. 
he left it to the house and senate members, they found it a daunting task, wasted time and gave the opposition time to ponder and quickly realise their extremely profitable business could be in jeopardy.
don't forget, MONEY drives everything and nearly everybody in the land of the free, home of the brave.

the shouting of "liar" was a mannerless and irreverent act, but americans are not known for their exquisite manners and reverence - bunch of effing cowboys, if you ask me.

being now forced to change to a lower gear will ensure that the days of america poking her nose into other peoples business [korea, vietnam, lebanon, somalia, iraq, afghanistan, etc] are over. have you noticed how we usually get out asses kicked anyway?

What beats me in all of this is the toleration shown to these deranged idiots.  A member who shouted "liar" in the Holyrood or Westminister Parliament would be given short shrift - his/her tiny feet would not have touched the ground, regardless of who he/she shouted it at.  And the loonies proposing violence against Obama would be charged with inciting racial hatred in the UK.  As long as the US tolerates them, they will flourish. The US would be better employed facing up to the enemy within, than looking for enemies without.
