Now, a really good illusionist would have had a surprise up the sleeve, having led the audience on to believe otherwise.  Showing people how a trick is done is not actually an, er, illusion.  Nevertheless, the audience were quite chuffed, and it was entertaining.  If you spread a deck of cards with backs to your victim and faces to yourself, and ask 10 people to pick a card then hide it, more than half will pick a card and hide it, then be amazed that you know which one it is.  Mostly they will accuse you of marking the cards.  Did they but look, they would see how it's done.
