Yes, you make several good points.
I have always said that here are several 'English' languages.
Taking the countries that have English as a major language we have,
Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Australia, New Zealand, South
Africa, The UK, Canada, the West Indies, and the USA all with their
own versions of English.
