John,

That's brilliant. It is described as a model, but they don't say how much
of it is replicated - I'd love to know. In Port Glasgow here, for the 150th
anniversary of the building of the Comet steamship by John Wood, Lithgow and
Kincaid built an exact replica (2 paddle wheel version) that sailed for a
bit on the Clyde, manned by the great and the good in period costume (1812),
before it was lifted out and placed on a plinth where it can be seen to this
day. In at least one source, calling itself An Encycopaedia Of Scotland, it
is called "a full size working model". When is a model not a model? Is this
a metaphysical question? Discuss either in not less than 500 words.

Hugh.
