The intro says, in parts:

quote -

Story of an Anglo-Indian boy, who was born into an upper
middle class family in British India. His mother was of
European extraction and his father was probably of
Goanese extraction. Thus, the colour of his skin was
darker than his mother's. His mother was not too happy
about the fact that he was of a darker shade of skin
than her, in the 'blinkered' environment of British India.
As a result of this, she physically and verbally abused
him when he became suntanned by playing in the sun;
the beatings even took place in Britain. The problem
was worsened in 1947 when India got independence.

The book describes how the author faired when he
was moved from a private English boarding school
to an English Secondary Modern school and took
his 12-plus on his third day of attending the Secondary
Modern school. The book describes his experiences
in the following educational establishments: Private
schools in Kharagpur, India; St. Joseph's European
High School, Bangalore, India; Highfield's Secondary
Modern School, Chatham; Chatham Technical School
for Boys (Now Chatham Grammar School for Boys);
H.M. Dockyard College, Chatham, The Universities
of Durham/Newcastle, Manchester, Teesside, Surrey
& Portsmouth. The book also describes his industrial
experiences at Chatham Dockyard & Vickers-Armstrongs
(Shipbuilders) Ltd., Barrow-in-Furness.

The book shows how the setbacks and successes
of the author shaped him so that he, a first generation
immigrant, eventually became a British university
professor. The book describes some of his inventions
and his proposals for solving the energy crisis problem
together with solving the global warming problem.
