Colin,

Here's a solution.  All front bits to be made of half inch mild steel.  Front areas of top and bottom bits ditto.  Remainder of top and bottom bits three eighths mild steel, and back bits some aeronautical alloy.  In the event that there appears a bird that can fly a good bit faster than planes, the latter bits can be plated over with half inch stuff.  Why have marine engineers got to solve all the world's problems?
