G'day folks,

Interesting - Townsville has been having tropical rainfall, sorry
liquid sunshine, for most of January. It is bucketing down at the
moment.

If you go to

http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDQ60290.html

you will see that the River Burdekin is presently flowing at a height
of 3.30 metres (nearly 11 feet), over the dam/spillway wall. The dam/
spillway is 0.5 kilometres across (547 yards).

The Burdekin Dam holds more water in it than Sydney Harbour.

If you have Google Earth, you can see the size of the dam/spillway and
the dam itself at....

20°38'45.20"S, 147° 8'26.30"E

It is not true to say that Australia doesn't get enough rainfall. What
is true is that there aren't a lot of ways to stop it all going into
the sea.

ooroo

If you don't hear the knock of opportunity - build a door.

Anon.
