Good one, Colin.  I once was interviewed by a chap whose normal job was advising firms about how to change over from the drawing board environment to CAD.  He said his biggest problem was in convincing them that they should retain a manual function in some form, ideally a percentage of boards.  When I retired from Kvaerner in the late 90s all draughtsmen had a board and a desk, and a CAD station when required, which was 90% of the time.  One shipyard (still in business) abandoned CAD apart from one AutoCAD work station, much to the chagrin of applicants for jobs who couldn't switch on a pencil.  Already, when I retired, the fascinating process of producing CAD drawings was becoming more important than the end product - numpties were enraptured by the pretty colours on the screens and the endless possibilities for fun.

So, a few non-electric typewriters around the place wouldn't come amiss.  We have acquired  3 TV sets discarded by our daughter when she moved house. At first they were stored, but now they're ours, sort of, but neither remote controls nor handbooks came with them, so they are electronic scrap. A previous generation of TVs bristled with little knobs, and almost anything could be adjusted, unlike the 3 faceless items taking up space here, which can only be switched on, then off again unless one likes looking at a blank screen.  In what way is this progress?

So I sympathise with the blonde.
