The bit I like is where he writes "we've got this under control".  Aye, right.  Like the Russians had it under control.  Like the British had it under control more than once.  Nobody, but nobody, has ever had it under control in Afghanistan, not since Alexander the Great anyway.  If it's genuine, and even if it isn't, I'll bet he couldn't pick out Afghanistan on a map of the world.
