A case of NIMBY.  They should have sued the builders, the developers, and the council who agreed to their house being built where it was built. I recall once we planned an outing, and someone expressed a wish to come along at the last minute. We said OK, and before we'd even left they started on modifying the plan which, apparently, wasn't what they'd thought it was.  Same thing.
