Astronomical events are rarely visible from up here, and that goes for both 
kinds, the true and the untrue.  For some millennia, before sporadic decent 
weather came north, the early Scots didn't realise there were stars, etc, so 
they never stayed up late to watch them.  You will have noticed a lack of 
constellations called The Kilt, or the Scabby Wee Dug. During WW2, through 
some freak of nature, clear night skies combined with no lights to give the 
lieges a frightening view of the heavens, but both of these ceased in 1945 
and we went back to speculation and casting runes.  All true.
