good one, hugh

I am not familiar with, "Air powered fans that force the steam through the cylinders make only the slightest sound"

could this be supercharged steam I am so unfamiliar with?

or would this be instead of, or in addition to - superheat?

what ever it is certainly has an almost unbelievable effect on fuel consumption - requiring a tank containing only 4.7 litres of biofuel; possibly the biofuel has more of those little molecule thingys than one would expect!

I read from this morning's Herald that the SS Sir Walter Scott has been refurbished and is now back sailing on Loch Katrine, which is a credit to the team who carried out the work, though only one of them is named. Leaving that aside, I go on to the article, written by a lady called Cate Devine. I single out for special mention the following.

The two old coal bunkers have been ditched and replaced by a tank containing 4.7 litres of biofuel.

The crankshaft and bearings were cleaned up.

Air powered fans that force the steam through the cylinders make only the slightest sound.

[Re the biofuel, the boilers run on a blend of recycled tallow and used cooking oil .... until the 4.5 litres, less ullage, run out.]

Hugh.
