Well, as they say – bigger than the average motor.

Nothing new, however perhaps lacking in thermal efficiency but giving  
maximum torque at zero revs, James Watt was on the ‘right track’.

“The top of the connecting rod attaches to a "crosshead" which rides  
in guide channels. A long piston rod then connects the crosshead to  
the piston.”
I’ve see that many times before.




One of the first two BoB locomotives named 11/9/1947 & 9 July 1967 was  
the last BoB class to run on BR; the end of steam on BR Southern Region.
