An awesome mind.  The obituary doesn't say why he was doing hard sums while 
in bed with diphtheria aged 9.  Aged 9 while in bed with either measles or 
chickenpox I was in depression through not getting to see Meet Me In Saint 
Louis with my younger brother, and if 2 had a square root nobody told me 
about it.  I'm glad I wasn't a prodigy at maths, I wasn't even one at 
arithmetic - that way I got to play bows and arrows and fish for crabs with 
a mussel on a string. My pals and I used to lie on the pavement by 
Morrison's pub and speculate on fate.  We didn't know what it was, but it 
sounded profound, and it made a change from arguing about how fast a cheetah 
could run.
