Colin,

Though I got 3 years of Latin in school, at one point in my family history research I had to buy a Latin dictionary to help with documents in Latin that strained what little I recalled of the language. 

Weevir, rex philosophorum = wee man, king of philosophy (or maybe our king of philosophy).  I daresay Bain was a wee man and pronounced weaver as weevir.
