Hi Hugh,
?????????? those programmes and similar on cooking have finally weaned me off the mesmeric box sat in the corner, I confess in the past that I have wasted countless hours hypnotised or in a trance like state rooted to my seat unable to move with the farm falling down around my ears, don't deride the programmes, they are driving us out of the house and freedom beckons.
?????????? Seriously, the worst examples of that type of programme are the ones that promoted 'Buy to Let', the stars of the show started by going to auctions where properties were for sale by building society's that had been repossessed from those unable to keep up with payments based on ten times earnings, the buyers extolling the virtues of buying cheap always at some other poor bastards loss. We then moved onto the next stage where further monies were spent on improving the property ending by charging rents that would cover their borrowings, all this with the BBC's blessing. We knew then and this has finally been born out with the likes of Bradford & Bingley reporting extensive losses for the first time in their history that they were living in a fools paradise, I suppose events might go full circle with those that enjoyed other peoples misery might finally get a spoonful of their own, God I hope so (is that blasphemous?) I don't suppose the those at the BBC will be affected by all of this, onwards and upwards, what other misery can we devise and film.
