Hugh,
Have you tried using Thunderbird as a mail program its very good and the 
price is right (free) and it will import most things from most programs 
when used along with its companion program Firefox also free from 
Mozilla which used to be Netscape they are both superior to the 
microsoft offerings and not prone to the hacking that microsoft is 
subject to
just a thought
