Hugh,

Talking of Lithgows.  On about 1966/7 the MD of Lithgows took the  
Marine Super of Denholms, Glasgow, around a trade fair.  There they  
were shown a Hilti Gun in action.  They decided that this would be the  
thing for securing the only wooden deck on the ship, the Nav. Bridge,  
on a ship called the NAESS TALIMAN.

I relieved the Mate at the end of her maiden voyage.  It was soon  
apparent that the wooden deck was no longer fixed to the steel  
below !  It had to be resecured at the first drydocking.

Do you know the story of the tailshaft of the VLCC that Lithgows built  
for Naess Denholm ?  Can I be sued ?
